Star Wars Fans Rally to Save The Hunt for Ben Solo Movie

With the Star Wars universe having existed as one of Hollywood’s longest-running franchises, several ideas throughout the decades have ended up not getting produced. Whether it is on the small or big screens, multiple stories in George Lucas’ world that almost came to fruition have become famous for not going forward in the end.

Only a few days after Adam Driver revealed that The Hunt for Ben Solo movie was close to becoming a reality, the Star Wars fanbase is making their voices heard, as a plane with a banner (via Collider) was spotted flying over Disney Studios, with “Save The Hunt for Ben Solo.” Check out the images below of the campaign:

At the time of this story’s publication, Disney and Lucasfilm have not responded to the banner’s presence in Burbank during the morning on October 23, 2025. Whether or not there will be any official comments from the studio remains unclear, as backlash from Star Wars fans has already emerged online about the cancelled film.

The campaign is very similar to a lot of other fan-driven movements, in particular the community that rallied for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, after Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon’s retooling in 2017 attempted to erase the original vision that the DCEU director had. Similar to Save The Hunt for Ben Solo, #ReleaseTheSnyderCut banners were flying outside the WB studio, with the 4-hour cut eventually getting released on HBO Max in 2021.

Driver told AP in an interview that The Hunt for Ben Solo movie was something he and Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy had active discussions about. The actor had approached director Steven Soderbergh for the Kylo Ren-centered entry, which led to Scott Z. Burns being hired to pen a screenplay.

But the character’s death in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was the ultimate obstacle, despite Kennedy responding well to the pitch. It was Disney CEO Bob Iger and co-chairman Alan Bergman who struggled with continuing Driver’s Star Wars future with a solo film, due to the ending in the 2019 installment.

Adam Driver: We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.

Whether or not this new push will give the Ben Solo film an opportunity to happen remains to be seen, as Lucasfilm is already working on numerous upcoming Star Wars movies for the franchise. But in the world of Hollywood, there have been many surprising developments for scrapped projects.

Driver’s Star Wars movie could get renewed interest from studio heads, especially after the actor revealed to the world what almost happened after the sequel trilogy. This is now generating a big response from audience members, who are making it clear that they want to see more of Ben Solo in the Star Wars franchise.
