Suge Knight is sharing his thoughts on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent sentencing.
In a phone interview from prison with The Art of Dialogue, the former Death Row Records CEO claimed that Diddy’s punishment was far lighter than it could have been.
“As far as Puffy is concerned, it’s a great day for him. It’s an even better day for his family, you know? Overall, though, it’s not surprising. We do all know one thing: like I said before, Puffy has strong ties with the government. With the feds and anybody else woulda been cooked,” Knight said.
Diddy, 55, was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, a violation of the Mann Act. Alongside the prison term, he was fined $500,000 and will serve five years of supervised release following the completion of his sentence.
Knight said the leniency didn’t surprise him, claiming that Diddy’s influence and alleged federal connections helped him avoid a harsher penalty.
Knight also criticized what he described as Diddy’s attempt to shape public opinion before the sentencing.
“It’s the first time in history that a person going to get sentenced [could] actually put on a campaign like they’re running for the President of the United States,” Knight said.
He went on to mock the spectacle surrounding Diddy’s court appearances.
“Only thing I was waiting on was them bringing out the DJ and start playing music. And letting him do what he does best…dance and shake that a– and end up with no time,” he added. claiming that Usher and Russell Simmons can’t wait for him to return home.
Diddy’s hopes all now hinge on a potential pardon from Donald Trump.
