Super Eagles of Nigeria and Atalanta winger, Ademola Lookman, said his outstanding performance over the past two years with the Serie A club has significantly propelled his career to new heights.
Ademola Lookman, who is currently 27 years old, clinched the 14th spot in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings, a recognition that underscores his evolution as a player.
In a recent interview with the BBC, he emphasized the growth in his self-assurance and skillset, saying: “I have gained immense confidence in my ability to create opportunities, score goals, and support my teammates through assists. Over these past two years, I believe I have elevated my game and demonstrated this on a more consistent basis.”
His remarkable progress culminated in an unforgettable moment during the 2023-2024 season, where he made history by scoring a hat-trick in Atalanta’s stunning 3-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final, marking the club’s first European trophy. This achievement not only showcased his talent but also reaffirmed his pivotal role within the team.
Continuing his rich vein of form this season, Lookman has already found the back of the net eight times and provided five assists in the ongoing 2024-2025 campaign. His impressive performances have caught the attention of several European football powerhouses, including renowned clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.
Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman has become an integral part of the squad and is now on the brink of securing a lucrative new contract with the club.
Recent reports indicate that Atalanta have offered to raise his current annual salary from €2.3 million to €3.5 million. Should he accept, the contract would extend his stay at the Bergamo outfit until 2027, placing him among the highest earners in the squad.
