Two Super Eagles stars in Nathan Tella and Victor Okoh Boniface lifted the Bundesliga trophy in 2024 with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.
With the 2025/26 season kicking off tonight with a clash between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, Soccernet.ng highlights the Super Eagles stars that could star in the German top-flight this season.
Alongside are some Nigeria-eligible stars who could get the opportunity to get a call-up if their performances impress Eric Chelle throughout the course of the season.

Super Eagles stars in the Bundesliga
Nathan Tella
The ex-Southampton winger was an integral part of Xabi Alonso’s title-winning squad. Tella’s heading into his third season at the Bay Arena.
After being a squad player of the past two seasons, the two-cap Super Eagles star will be eyeing more minutes under Erik Ten Hag this term.
Gift Orban
The 23-year-old striker joined TSG Hoffenheim from Olympique Lyonnais during the winter transfer window, scoring four goals in 13 games.
Orban got an invite to the Super Eagles squad in September 2024 and will be hungry to score more goals to get a return to the Nigerian National Team.
Felix Agu
The Werder Bremen full-back was one of the best in the German top-flight last season, scoring three goals in 22 games last season.
The 25-year-old made his Super Eagles debut during the 2025 Unity Cup and with the left-back position in Eric Chelle’s squad up for grabs, the German-born Nigerian is set for a better campaign this term.
Jordan Torunarigha
The 28-year-old returned from the Belgian Pro League to join newly promoted Bundesliga side, Hamburger SV.
The one-cap Super Eagles defender will be a steady figure in the Hamburg backline and will be one to keep an eye on.
Kevin Akpoguma
The Germany-born Super Eagles centre-back has been one of the longest-serving Nigerians in the German Bundesliga, although he has very few caps under his belt.
Akpoguma made his debut for Nigeria under Gernot Rohr in 2020, but at 30, he could be a surprise inclusion in Eric Chelle’s AFCON squadlist.

Nnamdi Collins
Pharrel Nnamdi Collins joined Borussia Dortmund in 2016 before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt. Collins was born in Germany but is of Nigerian descent, as he is from a Nigerian family. He has also represented Germany at all youth levels of football.
While he’s solely focused on being a first-team regular at Frankfurt, the 21-year-old wants to represent Germany instead of the Super Eagles.
Noah Atubolu
The 23-year-old SC Freiburg goalkeeper has been widely tipped by many to be the man who puts an end to the goalkeeping struggles of the Super Eagles.
At such a young age, he is Freiburg’s first choice and has represented Germany from the U-16 to the U-21 levels. He is of Nigerian descent and dons both the German and Nigerian flags on his goalkeeping gloves in every game.
Oladapo Afolayan
The St.Pauli attacker scored three goals in the league last season. Although Afolayan has previously represented England’s C team, the 27-year-old open to playing for the Super Eagles.
“Yeah I would. It’s something I’ve thought about and hopefully I can keep playing well and get on their radar,” the former West Ham attacker said in a Q&A session with fans.
Justin Njinmah
Another Werder Bremen star on Nigeria’s books. The former Borussia Dortmund attacker wants to play for the Super Eagles, but is also open to playing for Germany.
The 21-year-old left winger was born in Germany but is eligible to represent Nigeria via his parents. He’ll be hoping to contribute to St. Pauli’s campaign this season with more playing time.
The 1.89m forward can also play as a centre-forward as he stands out with his aerial ability.
Oluwaseun God Power Osaro Ogbemudia
Another German defender that is eligible to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria via his parents. The 19-year-old defender signed his first pro contract with Union Berlin last summer.
The Bremen-born centre-back is keen on making it to the highest level of football, and could be set for his Bundesliga debut this summer.
“I am of course very grateful for the trust that the club and those responsible have placed in me and I am looking forward to continuing to be part of the planning,” Ogbemudia told the club’s official website.
“I am happy to accept this challenge and will do my best to be successful and develop myself further every day.”
Wesley Adeh
Like Ogbemudia, the Bremen-born midfielder signed a professional contract with Werder Bremen in January, and was promoted to the senior team this summer.
The 18-year-old could be set for a debut this season after stating the Werder hierarchy have given him all he needs to succeed.
“I am proud and grateful that Werder continue to put their faith in me,” Adeh told the club’s official website.
“I want to keep working hard to achieve my goals and dreams. The management have given me everything I need to do that.”
David Odogu
David Uyoyo Odogu was born in Germany to a Nigerian father, although he’s represented Die Mannschaft at youth level, featuring at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
The 19-year-old made his VfL Wolfsburg debut last season, and is set for more appearances at the Wolkswagen Arena this campaign.
Antonio Eromonsele Nordby Nusa (RB Leipzig, Norway), Chukwubuike Junior Adamu (SC Freiburg, Austria), and Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), are all Bundesliga players with Nigerian roots.
