CYRIEL Dessers has been ruled out for the rest of the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to injury, according to updates from the Super Eagles of Nigeria camp in Fez.

The Panathinaikos striker has therefore returned to Greece to continue his recovery from a thigh injury without seeing any Super Eagles action in Morocco.

Dessers was one of three players in the 28-man Super Eagles squad that missed their training session on Friday.

Ryan Alebiosu, who made his Super Eagles debut and impressed against Uganda on Tuesday, was at the team’s session but did not participate.

The Blackburn Rovers right-back is in recovery after suffering a deep cut to his leg during the Uganda clash.

Also missing out on training was Tochukwu Nnadi, who like Alebiosu made his Super Eagles debut against Uganda.

The Zulte Waregem of Belgium midfielder could not join his colleagues in training because he had a cold.

Apart from Dessers, Alebiosu and Nnadi, the other 25 Super Eagles players are in good shape as they prepare for the round of 16.

After breezing through the group phase with three wins from three matches, the Super Eagles will face Mozambique in Fez on Monday for a spot in the AFCON quarter-finals.
