Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has emerged as one of the most talked-about strikers ahead of the summer transfer window, with a top European scout recommending the Genk frontman to his club as a smart-value signing, Footynaija.com reports.

Arokodare has enjoyed a prolific campaign in Belgium, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists in 33 league appearances for Genk.

The 24-year-old’s form has not gone unnoticed, with Premier League side Newcastle United reportedly considering a move should Alexander Isak leave the club this summer.

According to Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws via Voetbalnieuws, an unnamed scout has told his club that Arokodare could be one of the most valuable forwards available in the coming window.

I have told my club: if you are looking for a striker, buy Tolu,” the scout was quoted as saying by Voetbalnieuws. “I estimate that Genk will ask for €25 million, but he could be secured for around €20 million.”

Genk signed Arokodare in January 2023 from French Ligue 2 side Amiens for just €5 million. He was brought in as a direct replacement for fellow Nigerian international Paul Onuachu, who joined Southampton in the Premier League.

Arokodare made his Super Eagles debut last month, featuring alongside his role model Victor Osimhen in Nigeria’s 2-0 win against Rwanda in a World Cup qualifier.

While Genk are keen to retain their top scorer, the club has a history of cashing in on in-demand players when big European offers arrive. With Arokodare’s stock continuing to rise, the Belgian side could once again be forced into a summer sale.

For now, Genk’s focus remains on the pitch. The Belgian giants lead the Pro League playoff standings but saw their advantage trimmed to a single point following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Club Brugge last weekend.
