Lagos’ most wanted assassin, Wasiu Akinwande, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court by the Lagos State Police Command.

The arraignment took place on Tuesday, August 5, following Akinwande’s arrest in July during a covert police operation.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the 44-year-old suspect, popularly known as Olori Eso, is facing multiple charges.

“Wasiu Akinwande aka Olori Eso is currently being arraigned at the Ogba Magistrate Court on an eleven-count charge,” Hundeyin announced in a post on X.

Akinwande, described by authorities as a “vicious and notorious hired killer,” had evaded arrest for years before he was finally captured at his hideout in the Agbado area of Ogun State.

According to the police, the arrest was executed by a tactical team codenamed Silence, Speed and Surprise, and marked a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle deadly gangs operating in Lagos.

“Arrest of most wanted vicious and notorious hired killer and head of killers gang in the history of Lagos State in recent time, Wasiu Akinwade a.k.a. Olori Eso, and recovery of nine (9) sophisticated firearms, ammunition, magazines, dagger, walkie-talkies and international passports,” Hundeyin said in a statement released in July.

The police have described Akinwande’s arrest as a major success in their fight against organized crime in the state.
