Suspected Sea Pirates Kill Security Operatives And Agip Workers In Bayelsa

“Some workers of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Okoroma and Ogbokiri-Akassa communities of Nembe and Brass local government areas of Bayelsa State were attacked by suspected Sea pirates in the early hours of Tuesday, November 30.

The gunmen killed two Agip workers and an operative of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Management of Agip in a statement released, said its murdered personnel were working for the restoration of mangroves in swamp seriously damaged by oil spill. The oil spill was attributed to the activities of illegal refineries and sabotages.

“With deep sorrow, Eni confirms that a group of Eni contractors accompanied by security operatives were attacked by an armed group causing as far as we know 3 fatalities and 2 injuries.

“Contractors were working at a Mangrove Restoration project, which envisages the restoration of mangroves in the Swamp area of Nigeria, seriously damaged by illegal refineries and spills due to sabotages.

“A very precarious and worsening general security situation is confirmed in the Swamp area, which put in danger and harms the company people and contractors, as well as the local communities.”

Spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Bayelsa State, Mr Solomon Ogbere also confirmed that an NSCDC officer were also killed.

He added that officers who sustained injuries in the attack were responding to treatment, while investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the attack.”

A fan who identified as Emma via the micro blogging platform, Twitter, claimed that Juwon (Mercy’s son with Lanre) could be mistaken for Kazim Adoti’s biological son as they share lots of resemblances.

He then went ahead to urge Lanre Gentry, the estranged husband of Mercy Aigbe to go for a DNA test to know the paternity of their son.

According to him, the resemblance of Mercy Aigbe’s son and her new husband is striking.

Ebubeagu Security Operative Beheaded in Ebonyi

Unknown gunmen have beheaded a member of local security outfit, Ebubeagu.

The victim has been identified as one Sunday Nwafor. He was killed in Ekpelu community, in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The gunmen stormed Nwafor’s house at night while he was asleep and shot him dead. They dragged his body out of his room and cut off his head, which they took away.

The state police spokesperson, Loveth Odah who confirmed the incident said;

“According to the DPO of Ikwo Police Division, some gunmen went to the house of one Sunday Nwafor. He was about 30 years old and a member of the Ebubeagu security outfit. The gunmen broke into his room while he was asleep and shot him dead. They dragged the body outside and beheaded him.

“His wife, who spoke to the police, said before she heard a gunshot, she overheard one of the hoodlums telling her husband that he left them in the bush and came back home to enjoy himself by collecting N30,000 monthly from the government.

“Two of the suspects have been arrested; investigation is ongoing. This act is barbaric and inhumane. This is coming barely two weeks after we recorded the other Ebubeagu incident, in which someone was also killed in this form and half burnt.

“The Commissioner of Police condemns in totality this kind of killing and has vowed to do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that the remaining perpetrators are brought to book.”
