Nigerian singer Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has melted hearts with a sweet video of him surprising former president Olusegun Obasanjo on his 89th birthday.

In a video posted on his Twitter page, he stormed the former president’s 89th birthday party, carrying a huge box that he presented to him.

The video captured the moment he presented the box to Obasanjo, who opened it in front of the crowd.

The two men have been very close since the tenure of the former president.

Speaking on the birthday celebration, he stated that Obasanjo was well honoured as the hall was filled with laughter.

“When OBJ Kiss CharlyBoy

Then Baba enter.
As Chief Olusegun Obasanjo stepped inside, the whole atmosphere changed. Respect rise for the room. People stand. Glasses lift. Smiles everywhere. The man wey history don write plenty chapters about go sit for the high table like the true elder wey him be.
Then my own moment showed face.

Step by step, I waka go the high table.
No hurry.

In other news, last year, the Bariga Local Council Development Area had renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos after Indigenous rapper and music executive Olamide. The Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Kolade Alabi David, announced this during the inauguration of some infrastructural projects in the LCDA on Friday, July 25th.

Reacting to it, Charly described the change as interesting and reminded the public that one can rename a place but can’t rename a legacy or erase the spirit. He stated that it wasn’t about a bus stop but the fear of a boy who refused to bow, a man who challenged the oppressors, and a man who didn’t beg the system to be accepted. He noted how only timid people change their names to hide their shame.

An unbothered Charly shared a video on his Instagram page of himself visiting the renamed bus stop. He said he couldn’t help but laugh at those trying to show him power. Charly said he’s still cruising through life and is not bothered by those who have a problem with him.
