The Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Aminu Alkali, has reportedly returned to Jalingo, the state capital, after a prolonged absence.
According to sources who spoke to Daily Trust, he arrived from Abuja and was taken to his official residence at Government House in a convoy of four vehicles.
Although there is no official statement from the government on Alkali’s return, there is a short video clip of him circulating on social media.
Alkali, who has been reportedly battling an undisclosed ailment, was last seen in the office eight months ago.
Sources said that Alkali came into the state through Yola Airport.
An official attached to the Deputy governor’s office, who did not want his name mentioned, told the aforementioned publication that the Deputy governor entered his office today and stayed briefly.
“It is today that l was told that the Deputy governor returned to Jalingo unannounced. l did not see him at the time l entered the office but l was told that he entered his office briefly and met with some senior officers,” he said.
