THE National Orientation Agency (NOA) has stated that the tax reform bills currently before the National Assembly aim to reduce the financial burden on Nigerians while safeguarding the interests of the less privileged.
The agency’s Director General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, made this known today in Abeokuta.
“Supporting these reforms will help establish a tax system that benefits everyone and funds essential development projects to advance our nation,” he said.
Issa-Onilu, represented by the Ogun State Director, Funke Salako, added that the agency has launched a nationwide campaign to mobilize Nigerians to address pressing challenges and foster a more informed, secure, and ethical society.
He emphasized the need for collective effort, stating, “These challenges demand collective action and active participation from all Nigerians.”
The proposed legislation includes the Nigeria Tax Bill, the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill.
In addition, Issa-Onilu noted that the government’s HIV/AIDS awareness efforts align with World HIV/AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1.
He highlighted intensified initiatives to provide free and accessible HIV testing and counseling services across the country.
