Actor Taye Arimoro has rejected the suspension announced by the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Directors Guild of Nigeria, and the Association of Movie Producers over an alleged clash with actress and producer Peggy Ovire during the filming of Pieces of Love.
Naijaonpoint reports that a letter from his lawyer, shared on Tuesday, stated that the bodies used a wrong name and listed him as Taiye Ayimoro instead of Taye Arimoro.
He also insisted that he does not belong to any of the three guilds, and for that reason, their decision holds no legal weight.
He asked for an immediate withdrawal of the suspension, a written apology, and a public statement.
He warned that he would file a N1 billion lawsuit if the request is not met within 24 hours.
The dispute came from an incident that happened on November 11 while the film was being shot.
Arimoro said that after finishing his scenes, Peggy prevented him from leaving and asked him to stay for more work.
He said he was held against his will and beaten by her team, adding that the experience left him with physical injuries, stress, and a broken tooth.
Peggy denied the claims. Her lawyers said Arimoro started the clash and punched the production manager and her driver.
They described his version of events as wrong and aimed at misleading the public.
After looking into the matter, the three guilds concluded that Arimoro caused the trouble and placed him on an indefinite suspension.
They also directed Peggy to apologize for taking the issue beyond the set.
