The remains of former Nasarawa State Deputy Governor and Senator, Solomon Ewuga, were laid to rest over the weekend at his country home in Alushi, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
Naijaonpoint recalls that Ewuga, who also served as a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), passed away on September 23, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, at the age of 70, after a brief illness.
Ewuga’s burial this weekend drew dignitaries from across Nigeria, including governors, ministers, and political leaders, who gathered to pay their final respects to the late lawmaker, described as “a man of integrity, humility, and service.”
The funeral service was held at the national headquarters of the Evangelical Reform Church of Christ (ERCC) in Alushi, where friends, family, and political associates reflected on the life and legacy of the late senator.
Speakers described him as a bridge-builder and a detribalised Nigerian who played a major role in the creation and development of Nasarawa State.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, in an emotional tribute, said the late Ewuga was a selfless leader who always prioritized the welfare of his people over personal gains.
“Whenever Ewuga visited me, it was to ask for one thing or the other for a community and not for himself,” the governor said.
“His passing is a great loss not only to his family, Nasarawa North, and Nasarawa State, but to the nation in general.”
Governor Sule expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the repose of the late senator’s soul.
Naijaonpoint reports that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Yilwatda, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, also attended the burial and urged unity among the people of Nasarawa.
They described Ewuga as a “detribalised Nigerian and patriot” who contributed immensely to the creation and growth of Nasarawa State.
“Senator Ewuga believed in service and unity,” Akume said. “He was among those who fought for the creation of Nasarawa State and remained committed to its progress until his last days.”
The burial was attended by a host of dignitaries, including former Governors Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Minister of Environment, Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, former Deputy Governor and ADC State Chairman, Chief Michael Abdul, and the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Hon. Silas Agara.
They joined family members, political associates, and well-wishers to honour a man widely regarded as one of Nasarawa’s founding political pillars.
Ewuga’s career spanned politics, public service, and community development. As a senator, former deputy governor, and former minister, he was praised for his commitment to justice, leadership excellence, and grassroots empowerment.
His final journey in Alushi was marked by hymns, prayers, and tributes from family members who described him as “a father to many and a man whose legacy will endure.”
