The IRS is continuing to recoup monies owed from rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and auctioned off several of the rapper’s items, including his music plaques.
The auction included Tekashi’s lavish jewelry collection, but according to reports, his RIAA-certified platinum record plaques sold for three to four times their projected values– between $3,200 to $14,250.
“This was the sleeper hit of the auction,” Jacob Kodner, Managing Partner of Market Auctions told Local 10 News. “Collectors and fans alike recognized these plaques as irreplaceable pieces of music history.”
The rapper’s 14-karat, two-tone “Yailin” diamond pendant necklace sold for a whopping $29,000, and a Hermes Birkin bag sold for $18,500.
When he was on top of the rap game, 6ix9ine regularly flexed his wealth, showing off his luxury car collections, his blinged-out jewels, and stacks of cash on Instagram. He regularly trolled “broke rappers,” but the rumors of his own financial decline had been circulating for years before the federal raids last year.
In 2022, Wack 100 claimed the rapper was broke and hit him up for $20 for gas.
“Yeah, he broke as a motherf—er,” Wack said at the time. “That n—a 6ix9ine ain’t got nothing! Man, that n—a over there doing bad. Bro, I had to send that n—a $20 for some gas. That’s why we was telling the people, ‘Ain’t really nothing we can do for you right now cause n—a broke-broke.’ It’s f—ing terrible, man. Sad thing to see such a talented young man [like this].”
