The residence of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, came under attack once again on Tuesday night in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Naijaonpoint reports that this is the second attack on the lawmaker’s family home in 2025, following an earlier incident in April.
According to a statement released by the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Media Office on Wednesday, armed men stormed the country home late Tuesday, vandalising several windows before being repelled by security forces.
The statement credited the swift response of local police officers, community vigilantes, and youths for foiling the attack and apprehending one suspect.
One of the arrested suspect, identified as Suberu Jose, was described as a known ritualist and a native of the area.
He reportedly confessed to being involved in the attack and claimed it was his third time targeting the property.
A cutlass and charms were recovered from him, while other members of the gang fled the scene.
Eyewitnesses said an angry mob attempted to lynch Jose before he was rescued by security operatives and handed over to the police.
“This recent arrest marked the first breakthrough in what appears to be a coordinated pattern of violence against the embattled female Senator,” the Media Office noted.
It added that the previous attack on April 15 did not result in any arrests.
The renewed assault comes amid mounting political tensions, following the Federal Government’s filing of two criminal charges against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The charges were filed shortly after she publicly accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment — an allegation that led to her controversial six-month suspension from the Senate.
“We call on the public to remain calm and steadfast in the pursuit of justice. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and her tireless representation of her constituents should not be met with violence or intimidation,” the statement added.
The incident was confirmed by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya.
Aya said: “It’s true that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Ihima was attacked yesterday (Tuesday). One person was arrested in connection with the incident and is giving useful information to the police.”
SP Aya assured that the other suspects currently at large would be apprehended and prosecuted.
