Tension has enveloped Ungwan Nungu community in Bokana Ward, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following the abduction of 11 residents by gunmen as they reportedly returned from their farms.

Naijaonpoint learnt that the victims were waylaid along a bush path in the evening and whisked away to an unknown location.

The incident, locals said, has triggered panic across neighbouring settlements, with families keeping vigil through the night while awaiting news of their loved ones.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, told Daily Trust that several of those taken were teenagers harvesting beans when the attackers struck.

“About 15 people were initially targeted. Some managed to escape, while others were released unconditionally. However, 11 remain in captivity, and the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of five million naira,” he said.

Confirming the abduction in a statement on Tuesday, the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Amos, condemned the assault, describing it as “cruel and senseless.”

I strongly condemn this act. Targeting peaceful community members is unacceptable and must not be tolerated under any circumstance,” he declared.

Amos urged residents of Ungwan Nungu, Bokana Ward and adjoining areas to remain calm and avoid panic, warning that resorting to self-help could worsen tensions.

He pressed security agencies to intensify rescue operations and track down the perpetrators.

“We expect intensified surveillance, intelligence-driven operations, and a swift, coordinated response that reassures our people of their safety,” he added.
