Ola Aina recently signed a three-year contract extension with Nottingham Forest after spending the last two seasons at the City Ground…

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back, Olaoluwa Temitayo Aina, has lauded his teammate, Morgan Gibbs-White, for what he’s done at the club in his time there, Soccernet.ng reports.

The English midfielder moved to the City Ground in 2022 from Wolverhampton Wanderers and has taken the Reds from Premier League minnows to competing for European spots.

Furthermore, Gibbs-White became an epitome of leadership at the City Ground, captaining them to their best Premier League finish in almost three decades in their last campaign.

Gibbs-White has been linked with a move to UEFA Europa League winners, Tottenham Hotspur, alongside Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

While a lot of Forest fans haven’t taken the news lightly, Aina revealed a potential exit for the former Sheffield United man will not taint the good work he’s done for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

“Never. I don’t think it would be forgotten. He’s a terrific player and his football speaks for itself,” the Super Eagles star said in quotes revealed by Nottinghamshire Live.

Additionally, the 28-year-old versatile full-back mentioned he’d prefer if Gibbs-White remained at the club, although there’s not much he can do to change the ongoing situation.

“Of course I would (want him to stay). But I don’t know what’s going on. You’d have to ask Morgan.”

“We have a bit of banter about stuff like that! But it’s that person’s business,” the AFCON 2023 finalist concluded.

While Gibbs-White is edging closer towards a Forest exit, he featured in the club’s preseason goalless draw against AS Monaco.
