Panic gripped Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Monday evening after terrorists invaded the town, abducting a pregnant woman, 10 children, two nursing mothers and several others.
The attack, which occurred around 6 pm, came barely days after a similar abduction in neighbouring Eruku town.
Eyewitnesses told National Pilot that between 20 and 30 armed bandits stormed Isapa, advancing with a large herd of cattle while firing sporadically.
An elderly woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet during the assault, raising fears about the community’s safety.
Bullet-ridden walls and doors were seen hours after the attack, while spent AK-47 shells littered several parts of the town.
Community leaders confirmed that 11 residents were abducted in the attack, including seven members of one family.
Among the kidnapped victims are a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.
The abducted individuals have been identified as: Talatu Kabiru, Magaji, Kande, Hadiza, Mariam, Saima, Habibat (a housewife), Fatima Yusufu (a housewife), Sarah Sunday (pregnant woman), Lami Fidelis (a nursing mother), and Haja Na Allah.
Sources said the attackers overpowered residents quickly and marched the victims into the bush.
Recall that terrorists had invaded a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.
However, all abducted victims were released to the Kwara State Government on Sunday.
