A fan announced their prediction for the release date of The Elder Scrolls 6, and given how development of AAA games of that scale often goes, their prediction is adorably optimistic. Ever since its official announcement by Bethesda, long before the company’s acquisition by Microsoft, there have been several discussions about the potential release date for Elder Scrolls 6. It’s worth noting that neither Bethesda nor Microsoft has made an official release date announcement.
Even so, some fans are still hopeful they’ll see the game this year, as Bethesda’s latest big project, Starfield, has already been released. As seen in a post on Reddit made by user Vanquisherofsnails, they are hopeful that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released this year. In fact, their prediction is that the title will arrive on June 6, 2026 – 6/6/26. They don’t explain why they expect the game to arrive on that date.
Bethesda Has Made Statements About Its Release Date
It feels extremely unlikely that the game will be released in 2026, much less in June. Usually, Bethesda boasts long months of advertisements and information snippets, leading up to the release of its titles. There have been some Elder Scrolls 6 release date updates, even though they lack an official release date. For example, in late 2025, Bethesda’s Todd Howard made some statements.
In his first statement, in November, Howard mentioned that the game was “still a long way off.” This implies that we shouldn’t expect to see the game in the near future. Moreover, in December, Howard said that The Elder Scrolls 6 will only arrive after GTA 6’s anticipated release, even after it was pushed back to November 19 this year. This means that, at best, the game will only be released starting on November 20. Even so, it’s unlikely it will be released this year altogether.
The Elder Scrolls Fans Remain Hopeful
Some Fans Expect A Surprise Announcement For This Year
Despite the most realistic predictions seeing The Elder Scrolls 6 released in 2027 or beyond, there are still a few fans who are hopeful they will be able to play it this year. This is exemplified by the user on Reddit, but also by other players. In a comment in ..., user Pleasant-Bend-7414 says they actually expect June 26 (6/26/26) to be a better date for the game, seeing that the Xbox Game Showcase may occur on June 8.
Even though some fans still hold onto hope for the release to occur this year, if Howard’s comments on its arrival after GTA 6 prove to be true, it’s a lot more likely that we’ll only see the title in 2027 or later. It’s possible we start seeing more official details about The Elder Scrolls 6 this year, but we may have to wait a while longer before getting to play it.
