It is an emotional time for Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo as she visited her late mother’s graveside.
The movie star, via her Instagram page, shared a video of the emotional visits, revealing that it had been five years since her mother left. She noted how the pain still feels fresh.
Expressing how much she misses her mother, she prayed for her to watch over her siblings, grandchildren, and her great-grandson.
“It’s been 5 years since you left us, Dear Mum, but the pain feels like it’s still fresh. I miss you more than words can express. Continue to watch over my siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandson, our guiding angel.
We love and miss you so much!”.
Iyabo Ojo lost her beloved mother, Mrs Victoria Olubunmi Fetuga, on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
She shared the sad news on her Instagram page with a touching tribute to her mother.
In 2021, she locked down Lekki, Lagos, for a grand party for her mum’s one-year remembrance. The party was attended by the crème de la crème of society, from A-list stars to highly Celebrated Society Men and Womën.
The party took place at the prestigious Monarch Event Centre. City People reported that the actress splashed Multi-million Naira at her mum’s remembrance party.
Over 30 food and drinks vendors were on Standby to serve the guests. From local to Continental dishes, all were available for guests. Kwam1, Lanre Teriba and Samson Egbeyemi were the musicians hired to entertain the guests.
Celebrities such as Yinka Quadri, Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, Anita Joseph, Blessing CEO, Toyin Lawani, Peggy Ovire and more graced the burial party.
Marking her 71st posthumous birthday in 2022, the famous actress visited her mother’s grave with her entourage. Describing her mother as a guiding angel, she revealed how much she misses her.
Some months back, journalist , Kemi Olunloyo had alleged that Iyabo’s mother, passed away due to complications from parànoid schizophrenia. She claimed that Iyabo abused her mother till she died.
Iyabo, responding to her said Kemi would continue to beg until she dies. Mocking her for living a pathetic life, she said that if Kemi’s children had given her the care she gave her late mother, her life wouldn’t have ended like that.
In other news, during her daughter’s baby shower, Iyabo had advised mothers and women on breaking the generational curse for their children. She cautioned women not to assume that because a certain thing happened to their mother, it would happen to them, and that it must happen to their children.
In a beautiful note to mothers, she stated that no amount of sacrifice or struggle can compare to the unconditional love their children will give back, as their love is a reflection of God’s love for you. She reminded them that God will never leave their side and that their children’s lives and devotion are a testament to His presence in their lives.
That wasn’t the first time Iyabo had sent a message to mothers. In a past post, she provided moral support and encouragement to single mothers, as she noted how single motherhood can be depressing, discouraging, upsetting, and rough.
Two years back, Iyabo shared her painful experiences of surviving as a single mother and being treated as a second-class citizen due to her failed marriage. Iyabo recounted how people called her all manner of names because of her failed marriage both in the movie industry and the world at large.
