The Sims 4 might keep ticking along forever, but another game in the Sims franchise won’t be. Over three years after the 2014 debut of The Sims 4, EA launched The Sims Mobile as an Android and iOS alternative. In 2024, EA announced that The Sims Mobile would start to re-run content rather than add entirely new events, spelling out the beginning of the end for the game.
At 1:30 PM UTC on October 21st, EA delisted The Sims Mobile from app stores. For a few months, the game will remain accessible for those who purchased it in the past through My Apps & Games on the Play Store or My Purchases on the App Store. The Sims Mobile will cease to be playable on January 20, 2026, when EA plans to shut down servers at 1:59 PM UTC.

EA has laid out a table of activities that will be available before The Sims Mobile‘s shutdown, with the first event starting on October 20 and the final quest ending on January 17.

The most exciting event, however, will come on January 6, 2026, when “All Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will unlock for every player.” This will give everyone two weeks to indulge their creativity without the same limits.
As of now, it’s no longer possible to spend real money in-game. Existing in-game currency can still be spent until the end of service, and all items obtained through previous in-game purchases will also continue to work. From now until the January 20 shutdown, all players will also be able to make use of unlimited energy.
The Sims May Still Have A Mobile Future
Project Rene Is On The Horizon
The Sims Mobile is the latest in a long list of mobile game shutdowns, so its ignoble ending isn’t all that surprising. Nonetheless, that doesn’t make it any less frustrating for fans who have invested years — and potentially a significant amount of money — into the game.Interestingly, The Sims Mobile will be outlived by The Sims FreePlay, another mobile game that was released years before it. Both games had their fans, but if you were struggling to pick which one to stick with, the choice has now been made foryou.
In the future, Project Rene may also serve as an alternative to The Sims Mobile. Project Rene is planned as an online multiplayer game that will serve as the next step in the Sims franchise. Until then, The Sims Mobile players have a few more months to enjoy the game.
