The spokesperson of a faction of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Darlington Nwauju, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to abduct and assassinate him because of his stance on the political crisis rocking the state.
Nwauju made the allegation in a statement issued on Thursday, saying he had received what he described as credible information about a “satanic plot of abduction and assassination” targeted at him.
According to the APC factional spokesperson, the alleged plan is aimed at silencing him for speaking out against developments in the ongoing political impasse in Rivers State.
“Credible information available points to a specific and wicked plot aimed at silencing me over my principled stance on the political crises rocking Rivers State,” Nwauju said.
He alleged that those behind the plan intend to make him another victim of unresolved politically motivated killings in the state.
“The sponsors and paid agents behind this murderous plot cannot add my name to the statistic of unresolved political killings in Rivers State,” he added.
Nwauju further claimed that those allegedly hired to carry out the attack had been instructed to monitor his movements both within and outside the state.
“The murderous gang hired for this job are to trail my movements around Port Harcourt and Abuja,” he said.
Despite the claims, the APC chieftain expressed confidence that the alleged plan would not succeed, declaring his faith in divine protection.
He said, “I am more than confident that Rivers State belongs to Jesus Christ and not any occultic group of blood suckers.
“Our state shall not remain under the stranglehold of demonic forces.
“As the Lord liveth and His Spirit is alive, I shall attend the burials of all those behind this evil plot against me.”
Nwauju is a member of the APC faction in Rivers State led by Emeka Beke. The faction has been vocal in its criticism of the political developments in the state.
On Saturday, the group described the Rivers State House of Assembly’s move to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a “choreographed legislative coup d’état,” warning that it undermines the collective interests of the party in the state.
