SATURDAY, November 22, presents another opportunity for culture scholars and practitioners to dissect the life and career of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, whose musical creation is celebrated as having influenced global cultural productions and movements.
Titled “The Talks 2”, the session is in the line-up of activities featuring at the ongoing three-month-long exhibition, AFROBEAT REBELLION, hosted at the Ecobank Pan-African Centre along Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island Lagos. It will kick off at 5 pm.

BENSON IDONIJE: CELEBRATED Nigerian broadcaster, music critic, and a pioneering figure in the history of Afrobeat, Idonije best known as Fela Kuti’s first band manager. Regarded as one of Nigeria’s most revered music critics, he was part of the original team that launched Radio Nigeria 2 (now Metro FM) in 1977. Idonije is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir, Dis Fela Sef, which chronicles the untold story of his friendship and professional relationship with Fela Kuti. In 2012, he was honored with the Life Time Award for Journalism Excellence by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism.
ADEGBOYEGA OYEDELE: PROFESSIONALLY known as Afrologic, Gboyega is a respected Nigerian music and broadcast personality. He is the presenter of the specialist music show, “The Sunday Cruise,” on Classic FM 97.3 Lagos, and coordinates AFROLOGIC RECORDINGS. A highly sought-after DJ and producer, Afrologic is renowned for his extensive remix and production credits, including influential work on recordings by Fela Kuti, Fatai Rolling Dollar, and Keziah Jones. He also leads his own band, AFROLOGIC.
AYOMIDE OLUFAWO: SINGER, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist redefining Nigeria’s alternative and electronic soundscape, Ayomide also known as (Ayofawo) is a law graduate turned musician, she blends jazz, soul, and live instrumentation to create music that is deeply authentic and emotionally resonant. Her debut single, “Firefly,” marked the start of her solo career after years of performing with live bands. Also a visual storyteller and photographer, Ayofawo’s art reflects introspection, individuality, and creative freedom.
ISABELLA ADEDIJI: MEDIA and communications professional, writer, and founder of Yellow Tamarind Productions, a company creating “edutaining” content across radio, television, and digital platforms, Isabella is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where she studied Education with a focus on English and Drama, she has worked as a journalist, presenter, producer, and PR consultant. Her media and storytelling projects include Africana Literati, Politico Politica, and Nolly Silver Screen.
