‘There Is Looting Of Public Funds From Top To Bottom’ – Peter Obi

Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has frowned at the level of corruption, insecurity and poverty in the country.

Naijaonpoint reports that Peter Obi, during his defection from the Labour Party (LP), to the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State on Wednesday, said Nigerians cannot continue to normalise what is not normal.

Peter Obi stated that there is looting of public funds at various levels of government, stressing that insecurity has become the order of the day.

He said, “There is looting of public funds from the top to the bottom. Insecurity is the order of the day. People can no longer sleep with their eyes closed.

“Poverty has eaten deep into the life of every average Nigerian. We can no longer allow normalizing what is not normal.

“We must then change it, and to change it, we must come with unity of purpose.

“We are now talking about tax regime. How can you tax people who unemployed? We have one 30 million people living in multi dimensional poverty. We have 80 million Nigerians, young Nigerians who are unemployed, and you’re talking about tax.”

In other news, Peter Obi recently cited an experience from his time as a serving governor in Anambra State to underline what he described as his problem-solving and leadership qualities.

Naijaonpoint reports that Obi made the disclosure on Monday during a Space chat on 𝕏 with his supporters, popularly known as the Obidients.

Recounting the incident, Obi said the episode occurred during a flight on British Airways several years ago.

“We were coming back on British Airways years back; I was a serving governor. The entire toilet was messed up. She opened that toilet to use it; it was messed up and she walked away,” he said.

According to him, rather than ignore the situation, he decided to clean the toilet himself after the previous user walked away.
