According To Our Reporter, human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has slammed Southeast political leaders for underestimating the resilience of the Biafra movement. Watch full report

On January 27, 2026, Sowore reacted to Governor Charles Soludo’s decision to shut down Onitsha Main Market for a week after traders continued to honor the IPOB’s sit-at-home order despite security assurances.

Sowore argued that many believed imprisoning Nnamdi Kanu would stop the agitation, but the ongoing shutdown proves otherwise. He insisted that the sit-at-home will persist until justice is served.

He further criticized Soludo’s market closure, saying it won’t resolve the root causes of unrest but will instead harm livelihoods and deepen tensions in the Southeast.
