Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has had a fine start to life at Celtic, scoring two goals and providing one assist in three games, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Hoops on a one-year deal, with the option for the contract to be extended another year, but a maintenance of his newly found form could even earn him more time at Celtic Park.

He’s also earned praise from former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers, who’s confident the Celtic faithful will fall in love with the 2021 FA Cup winner.

Rodgers backs Iheanacho for Celtic success

After just three games, Seniorman has done enough to convince his head coach that he’ll fit his style like a glove.

“He’s only going to get better. That’s because I know the player and I know how good he can be and how good he was for me,” the former Swansea boss said in quotes revealed by the Daily Record.

“I’m delighted for him. Obviously, when he came in, I think just because of the timing, probably of his arrival and everything that surrounded our window, it maybe wasn’t so accepting for him to be in.

“But there’s absolutely no doubt of all the players on the list that came to me that actually were available, he was absolutely the standout player.

“I know his talent, and I know how big a player he can be, and now he’s starting to settle into this squad and the group. He’ll show that during his time here.”

“The fans chanted his name at the away end against Belgrade. It’s a really big one, that one!

“The Celtic support will love him. Come the end of the season, they’ll be won over by his humility, his hard work and his quality on the field because he’s a goal scorer.

“He will get goals, all different types of goals, and he’ll give everything. So, I’m really pleased for him. He’s a wonderful finisher.

“He could have maybe had another one, but he’s like that in every game. He looks like he’s always going to score,” Rodgers concluded.

Despite his limited action over the past twelve months, Iheanacho has been able to hit the ground running at Celtic thanks to his hard graft over the summer, and he knows what he needs to get back to his best.

“When you’re not playing so much, you just need to try to keep the same level, try to be up there.

“If you’re not doing that, you wouldn’t be close to the people that are already playing games and all that. You’d be miles off it.

“So you just need to work more, work on your own if you’re not playing.

“Try to get fitness and everything, just to be close in case you have the opportunity to come back and all that. So you’re not too far off from where everyone is,” Iheanacho concluded.

Celtic’s next game is against Hibernian today, and Iheanacho will be hoping to get on the scoresheet once more and lead his team to victory.
