A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has reacted to the recent clash between Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, and naval officers during an inspection in Gaduwa, Abuja.
Naijaonpoint reports that in a post shared on his Facebook page, Igbokwe criticized the young army officer identified as Lieutenant Yarima, who confronted the FCT Minister at the disputed land site.
He described the officer’s action as a show of disrespect toward constituted authority and called for disciplinary measures.
Igbokwe questioned how a junior officer could challenge a senior government official who had served in various leadership positions, including as a lawyer, former local government chairman, former minister, former governor, and now minister of the FCT.
He said the act was unbecoming of a serving military officer.
He further questioned the true ownership of the disputed land, wondering why the supposed owner has remained silent while a young officer takes the heat.
Igbokwe said the confrontation was an unnecessary embarrassment and urged that appropriate action be taken to restore respect for lawful authority.
He wrote: “This is the young man, Lt. Yarima that challenged FCT 001 HE Nwike. The young officer has no respect for constituted authority. This is unacceptable. His uniform should be removed asap.
“A small military officer assaulting a lawyer, former local government chairman, former minister of state, former Governor and now Minister of FCT and you people are clapping for the boy. Jisienu Ike.
“Is this young officer the owner of the land? Where is the real owner of the land? He had the audacity and temerity to stand in face to face with a Minister of FCT and we are celebrating the foolish boy who was used as a scapegoat. We play too mush in this country. Let the owner of the land show his face na.”
