Arise News TV presenter, Reuben Abati, has reacted to the death of his colleague, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu.
Naijaonpoint reports that 29-year-old Maduagwu died in Abuja on Monday after an armed robbery attack at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja.
According to reports, the deceased jumped down from her house when about 14 armed robbers invaded the building.
Reacting, Abati described the incident as horrific and heartbreaking, lamenting that such incidents have been recurring on a daily basis.
Abati, who lamented the deteriorating security situation of the country, said Nigeria had happened to his deceased colleague.
“This is sad and heartbreaking. It is horrific that life will be lost in a country where there is a government and where the responsibility of the government is to protect lives and property.
“On a daily basis, we keep hearing these stories about Nigeria happening to people. If people are not killed due to bandit attacks or insurgent attacks, they are killed even by circumstances of just being a Nigerian.
“That is why we have repeatedly said on this table that Nigeria happens to people. This one has struck home here and that is why we are all in black mourning our colleague.
“It should be a reminder to the Nigerian government”, he said during the Tuesday Morning Show.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command, said it has, however, commenced an investigation into the incident.
