In a scene that looked more like a comedy skit than a real-life security operation, Algerian authorities have arrested three individuals of unknown nationality who attempted to illegally cross into Spain while disguised as sheep.
According to local reports, the unusual incident occurred near the country’s western border region, where the suspects were intercepted before they could make their way toward the Spanish enclave.
The men were reportedly camouflaged in makeshift sheep costumes, blending themselves among a herd in a desperate and bizarre bid to evade detection.Security officials, however, quickly noticed “suspicious movements” within the flock and discovered that three of the “sheep” were actually humans in disguise. They were immediately arrested for attempted illegal migration.
The incident has since gone viral across social media, sparking widespread amusement, shock, and disbelief. Many users joked that the suspects deserved “full marks for creativity but zero for execution,” while others noted the rising desperation of migrants attempting dangerous journeys through any means possible.
Authorities have not released the identities or nationalities of the disguised migrants, but investigations are ongoing.
This latest episode adds to a growing list of unusual migration attempts documented across North Africa and Southern Europe — a reflection of the escalating risks and unconventional methods migrants resort to in pursuit of better opportunities
