Justin Timberlake is fighting to keep police footage from his 2024 arrest out of the public eye.
According to court filings in Suffolk County Supreme Court in New York, the singer’s legal team has asked a judge to block the release of body camera video from his June 18, 2024, arrest in Sag Harbor. Timberlake was initially charged with driving while intoxicated before later resolving the case with a plea deal that reduced the charge to a traffic offense.
In the complaint, his attorneys argue that making the footage public would amount to “an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.” They added, “The harm from public exposure, stigma, harassment, reputational injury, and the permanent loss of privacy is immediate and irreparable.”
Although the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office previously agreed to seal the footage, media organizations are reportedly seeking access to it. Timberlake is now pursuing a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to prevent its release.
During the arrest, Timberlake allegedly told an officer that the situation would “ruin the tour,” a reference to his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. The exchange quickly circulated online and sparked widespread attention.
A judge has delayed ruling on the matter while both sides attempt to reach an agreement.
