President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu as the Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, with the role effective from December 1, 2025.
Naijaonpoint reports that the appointment is part of the government’s plan to improve the management of pensions for retired military personnel and ensure timely delivery of their benefits.
AVM Adamu brings extensive experience from his long career in the Nigerian Air Force, having served in key positions in finance and command.
His roles included directing staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, and Principal Staff Officer for Finance at the Air Warfare Centre.
He also led the 081 Pay and Accounting Group, managed finance at the NAF Headquarters, and headed the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited, overseeing the NAFIL Group of Companies.
Most recently, he was a directing staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
The president called on Adamu to apply his financial and leadership skills to improve the welfare of military retirees and maintain integrity in the board’s operations.
