Tinubu Leading Nigeria Like A Tourist With 200 Days Spent Abroad– Obi

Tinubu

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has taken a fresh swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of “insensitivity” over yet another foreign trip to Brazil and Japan while Nigeria grapples with severe economic and security crises.

In a strongly worded post on X titled “Again Our President Moves as the Nation Bleeds”, Obi lashed out at the President’s travel pattern, noting that with the latest two-nation tour starting today, Tinubu would have spent over 200 of his 806 days in office outside the country.

The Presidency says Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday, August 14, for Japan and Brazil, with a stopover in Dubai. In Japan, he is scheduled to attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from August 20–22. But Obi is unimpressed — pointing out that the itinerary is silent on when Tinubu will return to what he calls “a visibly troubled nation.”
