Tinubu Nominates Kingsley Ude To Replace Uche Nnaji As Minister

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate requesting the screening and confirmation of Kingsley Tochukwu Ude (SAN) as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Naijaonpoint reports that the letter, dated Monday, was read during plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for immediate consideration and screening.

Dr Ude, who currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State, has been recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

His nomination follows the resignation of Uche Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, whose exit last month created a ministerial vacancy for Enugu State in Tinubu’s cabinet.

Nnaji, the only minister from Enugu State in the federal cabinet, resigned in the wake of controversy surrounding his academic and NYSC credentials.

Reports had alleged irregularities in his certificates, which were said to have been obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

President Tinubu’s request comes days after the Senate confirmed Bernard Doro as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after a screening session that lasted less than 30 minutes.

Naijaonpoint reports that Doro, who becomes the third ministerial nominee from Plateau State in the present administration, used the opportunity to outline his plans for building what he described as an “inclusive humanitarian ecosystem.”
