Tinubu not taking security challenges lightly – Shettima

Shettima

VICE President Shettima has emphasised that President Bola Tinubu is taking the nation’s security challenges very seriously.

Shettima made this remark today during a meeting with the leadership of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Presidential Villa.

“The President is deeply concerned about the security situation in the country and is addressing it with the utmost seriousness,” the Vice President was quoted as saying in a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha.

He noted that the international conference NAN is organising is particularly timely, given the ongoing insecurity in the Sahel region.

Shettima called for regional and collective efforts to tackle the security challenges in West Africa’s Sahel region, stressing that the situation there has significant implications for Nigeria and its neighbouring countries.

Expressing optimism about the conference’s outcomes, he said, “With the calibre of individuals expected to attend the lecture, I believe it will generate valuable insights on addressing insecurity in the Sahel comprehensively.”

He also commended NAN for its vital role in Nigeria’s media landscape.
