Tinubu Renews Yelwa’s Appointment As N-HYPPADEC MD

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) for a second and final term of four years.

The reappointment, announced on Wednesday, is in accordance with Section 93 of the Electricity Act, 2023.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, the President urged Yelwa to build on the achievements recorded by the Commission during his first term.

“President Bola Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointment of Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of N-HYPPADEC for a second and final tenure of four years.

“This appointment is in accordance with the provisions of Section 93 of the Electricity Act, 2023.

“The President urges him to consolidate on the gains recorded by the Commission and bring greater innovation and dedication to the discharge of its mandate,” the statement read.

Naijaonpoint reports that N-HYPPADEC was established to manage the ecological challenges and developmental needs of communities in states hosting hydroelectric power projects.

Its responsibilities include environmental management, infrastructure development, and improving the livelihoods of affected communities.

With this renewal, Yelwa is expected to drive further innovations, enhance project execution, and ensure the Commission delivers on its statutory mandate.
