‘Tinubu Set To Attend Ladoja’s Coronation In Ibadan’

Presidency advance team

There are strong indications that President Bola Tinubu will be in Ibadan on Friday, September 26, 2025, for the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

According to The Nation, an advance team from the Presidency landed at the newly upgraded Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport at about 9:14 a.m., drawing excitement from those present.

The flight marked the first operation at the airport since it was shut down in March for a significant upgrade to international standards.

Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde had in September 2024 performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the airport’s upgrade, pledging that the project would connect Oyo State to the global market.

At the time, Makinde said, “The upgrade of the airport is expected to enhance air travel operations and provide a reliable transportation network for both business and leisure travellers, positioning the state for economic growth and development.”

The Makinde administration had earlier upgraded the airport’s VIP lounge, provided a new fire truck, and installed a 500,000-litre aviation fuel storage and dispensing facility.

In a related development, markets across Ibadan will be closed on Friday, September 26, 2025, as traders honour the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, announced the directive, saying the closure would serve as a mark of respect for the new monarch.

He explained that all markets within the eleven local government areas of Ibadanland, including those in the city centre and surrounding communities, will suspend trading for the day.
