PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has called on the newly appointed Brazilian ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Areias, to prioritise the establishment of direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil.

Tinubu made this request in Abuja yesterday after receiving the ambassador’s letter of credence.

He reiterated his earlier discussions with President Lula da Silva of Brazil on this matter, which took place in February during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The president affirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working closely with Brazil to enhance bilateral relations and advance shared priorities. He also welcomed Brazil’s upcoming presidency of the G20 in 2024.

Additionally, President Tinubu received the letter of credence from Ghana’s high commissioner to Nigeria, retired Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama.

He laudet Ghana’s active role in ECOWAS and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with its West African neighbour.
