Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, says the President Bola Tinubu-led administration is committed to the welfare of the South-South region.
Idris made the statement in Uyo on Thursday at an event to sensitise the public to the midterm achievements of the Bola Tinubu-led government.
Represented by Mrs Christiana Inyang, The Centre Head, Federal Information Centre, Akwa Ibom, Idris said that the president was offering leadership with tangible results.
He said that the citizenry had the right to know the midterm achievements of the current administration in the South-South region.
The minister said that the current administration had established cancer and IVF facilities at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital and Mbribit Itam, to cater to the health needs of the people.
He further said that the president had through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Initiative undertaken projects that would impact positively on the region.
“The 65km Akwa Ibom Section of the Lagos-Calabar Highway, a three-lane carriageway, is a good example of the president’s positive impacts on the people.
Idris said that under Tinubu’s watch, critical sectors such as education, healthcare and agriculture were receiving the desired attention.
“Under the current administration, the South-South is now a priority, the cassava bio-ethanol project in Akwa Ibom is a bold step towards food security and job creation.
“This project holds promising opportunities not only for farmers but the entire agro-processing value chain that will benefit many people,” he said.
The minister used the occasion to reiterate the commitment of the Federal Government to implementing more people oriented projects in the region.
“The Tinubu-led government is commited to the well-being of the South-South region, it is working tirelessly to create a future where Nigerians can thrive with unity, hope, and hard work,” he said.
In his keynote speech, Prof. Charles Obot, the Head, Department of Films and Multimedia Studies, University of Uyo, commended the Federal Government for its people oriented projects in the South-South.
Obot urged people of the region to make inputs that would promote the policies and programmes of the current administration in the country.(NAN)
