President Bola Tinubu’s administration has distributed bags of rice to Student Union Government (SUG) Presidents from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The distribution, facilitated by Asefon Sunday, the Special Adviser on student engagement, took place on Tuesday in Abuja.

“Today, SUG Presidents from across the nation will receive rice from President Bola Tinubu, a leader who values students and their role in shaping the future,” Asefon stated.

Initially scheduled for December 2024, the distribution was delayed but completed on December 28, with representatives from each zone invited to the capital. Two SUG Presidents from each zone were tasked with supervising the distribution process.

Describing the effort as unprecedented, Asefon said it is the first time a sitting Nigerian President directly engages student leaders in such a festive outreach.

Fahad Abdullahi, SUG President of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, expressed gratitude on behalf of his peers and praised the President’s thoughtful gesture.

Asefon assured students of further benefits under the Presidential initiative in 2024, urging them to stay engaged and communicate their needs to the government.
