President Bola Tinubu on Thursday declared that he is ready to contest the 2027 election to seek a second term in office as Nigeria’s leader.
According to him, he is ready to break the shackles of ignorance and poverty, put freedom in the hearts of Nigerians and ensure democracy survives.
Taking a swipe at opposition parties, President Tinubu said he wants to give something different from the rascality or noise-making of a street convention.
According to him, the country must submit to the principles of separation of powers and respect the judiciary even when rulings don’t favour a particular group.
Naijaonpoint reports that Tinubu made the declaration when he met with the leadership and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The factional South West National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has disclosed that the party would work for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
He disclosed that the party’s leadership, including Julius Abure and the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, have agreed to support Tinubu’s second term bid.
He added that the arrangement was designed to allow the South-West to complete its eight-year cycle at the presidency.
Naijaonpoint reports that Arabambi made the declaration during an interview on News Central on Thursday.
“Abure and Governor Alex Otti have all agreed in principle that we will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because this presidency belongs to the South-West, not to the South,” he said.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has weighed in on the controversy trailing the alleged impeachment plot against him.
Naijaonpoint recalls that a few days ago, reports circulated online that former First Lady of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, allegedly met with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin, over plans to impeach Makinde.
However, speaking at the inauguration of key committees set up to drive the state’s long-term tourism development and to prepare for the International Tourism Summit 2026 on Thursday, Makinde downplayed the impeachment plot.
He said, “So this administration will come to an end in one year and one month.
“So what will happen next? Well, that is if I am not impeached then.”
The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has blamed the withheld ₦300 billion local government funds for the inability to execute some major projects in the state.
Speaking on Thursday during a review and inspection of some ongoing projects in the state, Governor Adeleke said the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) hijacked the ₦300 billion without thinking of the welfare of local government employees.
He, however, said his government needed to step in and shoulder the responsibility of paying local teachers, health workers, pensioners, and local government workers for more than one year now, amidst the alleged hijacking of the local government funds.
Adeleke said that despite the court having sacked the APC chairmen, Osun APC lacks conscience and has diverted the funds meant for local workers.
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, will be labelled a mole of President Bola Tinubu if he quits the coalition over the loss of the party’s presidential ticket.
Naijaonpoint reports that Okonkwo made this known during an interview with Channels Television.
When asked about the speculations that Peter Obi will leave the ADC coalition if he fails to secure the presidential ticket of the party.
In response, Kenneth Okonkwo said that such a decision would only mean that Peter Obi is compromised and working for President Tinubu’s re-election.
He said, “If he leaves, will he now be a mobile squatter. Anybody, any presidnetial aspirant in ADC and seeing what everybody is going through and leaves ADC for another party, one, he is a mobile squatter and two, he is working for Tinubu.
“Anybody that goes out of the coalition is compromised and is working for Tinubu. Whoever that person is”
