Tottenham Reach Agreement to Sign Serie a Youngster

Published

on

Tottenham Hotspur have been very busy in the summer transfer window, trying to improve their squad to challenge for top honours this season under Antonio Conte.

Their signings for this summer include Richarlison from Everton, Yves Bissouma from Brighton, Djed Spence from Middlesbrough, Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, Clement Lenglet (on loan) from Barcelona, and Fraser Forster from Southampton.

And now, according to reports, they have reached a verbal agreement with Udinese for Destiny Udogie, a 19-year-old left back.

This is what established journalist Fabrizio Romano had to say about the deal via Twitter:

Destiny Udogie to Tottenham, here we go. Full agreement reached with Udinese for more than €20m – after personal terms in place. Talented Italian fullback will be Spurs player in 2023, wanted by Paratici.

Udogie will stay at Udinese for one more year on loan.

Tottenham Are Stacked Up in the Left-Back Area

Spurs are pretty stacked in the left-back department right now, and it only makes sense that Udogie stays at Udinese on loan for this season.

At the time of writing, Tottenham currently have Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon (who had a brilliant game against Southampton on the opening weekend) and Sergio Regulion fighting for the left-wing back position.

Destiny Udogie had an impressive outing for Udinese last season, impressing several European clubs.

In 35 games, he won 52% of his duels and 57% of his take-on. He also averaged 2.73 tackles per 90 and 1 shot per 90. He finished the season with 5 goals and 4 assists, creating 28 chances in total.

The most important statistic is that Udogie made zero errors leading to a goal. The signing of Udogie means that Spurs have signed the two fullbacks in the Serie A with the most goal contributions last season.

With Udogie being Spurs’ seventh signing of the season, do you think the club has a genuine chance to challenge for the trophy? With an improved squad and under a great manager, could we finally see Tottenham getting a trophy this season?

Do you think Udogie is a good signing for Tottenham? The club already has three left-backs, so is it the right move to sign one more left-back? Do let us know your thoughts.
