Star Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has announced her return to cinemas with a new film titled BESTIE, scheduled for nationwide release on December 16, 2026.

Toyin announced the project on Friday, sharing a teaser for the film on her social media pages. Details about the plot and full cast have not been disclosed.

She captioned ..., “BESTIE in Cinemas from 16th of December #Bestie#bestiethemovie

“Concept/directed by @toyin_abraham”

The announcement comes after the success of her 2025 film Oversabi Aunty, which crossed the N1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office in January 2026.

Oversabi Aunty, which marked Toyin’s directorial debut, grossed N1.017 billion and became the first Nollywood directorial debut to cross the N1 billion threshold. The achievement earned her a Box Office Champion Award from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) in March 2026.

Toyin’s December release follows her announcement in July that Alábọ̀sí 2 would be her final YouTube movie for 2026.

The film premiered on her YouTube channel on July 28. She had also hinted at another project for the cinema before the end of the year.

The actress has released several films during the December cinema season in recent years, including Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper in 2022, Malaika in 2023 and Alakada: Bad and Boujee in 2024.

BESTIE will also join a busy December cinema schedule. Fellow filmmaker Funke Akindele is set to release The Four: No One Fights Alone on December 11, five days before Abraham’s film.

Toyin’s latest project comes as she seeks to build on the performance of Oversabi Aunty, which is among Nigeria’s highest grossing films. Funke Akindele remains ahead of her among Nigerian filmmakers based on box office earnings.
