Tragedy occured in Lagos on Saturday after a fast moving train crushed a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, along the railway tracks at Arena Shopping Mall in the Oshodi area.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the incident was reported to the Mosafejo Division by a woman who claimed to be the deceased’s sister.
Hundeyin noted that detectives were dispatched to the scene after receiving the report around 1:33 p.m. They also documented the location and transported Emmanuel’s body to a public morgue for an autopsy.
“A woman reported at Mosafejo Division that at about 0900 hours of the same day, she received a phone call that her elder brother, one Emmanuel (surname withheld), ‘M’, aged 50 years, was allegedly crushed by a moving train at Arena Shopping Mall, Oshodi,” Hundeyin explained in a statement.
“Based on the report, the scene was visited and photographed by a team of detectives. The corpse was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy.”
The case has been transferred to the Railway Police Command at Ebute Metta for further investigation.
