Troops Arrest Suspected Gunrunners, Recover Weapons – Independent Newspaper Nigeria
In a statement released on Tuesday, Major Stephen Zhakom, the Military Public Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, stated that the achievement is a result of the operation’s primary mission to seize illicit weapons and ammunition from the Joint Operations Area.
He claims that the operation started on September 16, 2024, at midnight, and ended in the early hours of September 17, 2024.
He stated that during a troop operation at the Naraguta Mining Area in Bayameni, along Bauchi Road in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, the suspected gunrunner and four other people were taken into custody. Sani is known to be a gunrunner.

Two AK-47 rifles, one automatic rifle made by Fabrique Nationale, fourteen AK-47 magazines, and one magazine made by Fabrique Nationale were among the weapons and ammunition found during the operations.
Other recovered items are 5,316 rounds of 7.62 MM (Special), 98 rounds of 7.62 MM (NATO), and 43 rounds of 9 MM.
According to Zhakom, suspects are being questioned in order to gather information that will help apprehend additional syndicate members and destroy the supply chain for gun running.
