Troops arrest terrorist informant in Sokoto

Sokoto

Security operatives struck in Sokoto State on Tuesday morning, detaining a man suspected of feeding information to terrorist groups.

Soldiers from the 8 Guards Task Force based at Forward Operating Base Denge Shuni carried out the raid in Denge Shuni Local Government Area.

The arrest happened around 11:45 a.m. during a targeted community operation.

Officials say the individual is believed to have helped militants by sharing details on troop movements and local activities.

“This was a clear case of someone acting as eyes and ears for the criminals,” a senior security source familiar with the operation told reporters.

“We moved quickly once the intelligence solidified.”

Troops seized a Tecno mobile phone, a motorcycle, and ₦195,200 in cash from the suspect at the scene.

All items and the detained man were transferred the same day to the 8 Military Intelligence Brigade for deeper questioning and forensic checks.

The action forms part of a wider campaign across the Sokoto axis. Forces are hunting networks that supply terrorists with tips, fuel, food, and safe passage.

“Support systems keep these groups alive,” the source added. “Breaking them is just as important as direct combat.”

Military units plan to keep pressure high with more intelligence-driven raids. The goal remains cutting off every channel that lets violent groups operate in the region.
