Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 10 insurgents and recovered a cache of weapons and equipment during a night operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.
In a statement on Sunday, Sani Uba, media information officer of the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), said the troops from Sector 1, 24 Task Force Brigade, carried out the operation following the killing of more than 50 terrorists in a previous encounter at Katarko.
Uba disclosed that the insurgents were intercepted while attempting to invade Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis. During the confrontation, the fighters retreated toward Dikwa, only to run into another ambush by troops along the Dikwa–Marte road.
“At approximately 23:50 hours on 25 October 2025, while manning a pre-established ambush position, the troops identified and engaged the hostile elements,” the statement read.
“The unit delivered heavy and accurate suppressive fire, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray. At first light, after clearance operations, 10 insurgents were confirmed neutralised.”
A search of the area led to the recovery of several weapons, including five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally made guns, two fabricated pistols, and loaded magazines containing 7.62mm rounds and linked ammunition.
The troops also recovered two motorcycles, two bicycles, a radio, water flask, raincoat, blanket, and assorted charms.
Uba noted that the operation highlights the effectiveness of the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts and reaffirms the military’s commitment to sustaining offensive actions, protecting civilians, and restoring peace and stability in the North-East.
The military high command commended the troops for their gallantry, vigilance, and tactical proficiency during the successful mission.
