Some terrorist hiding in Taraba State recently suffered a huge blow when troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army’s Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) invaded their camps.
It was gathered that during the operation at Badekoshi, the terrorists, who fled towards Fajul village close to the forest, were pursued and overpowered by the military, though a few others escaped deeper into the forest.
A statement on Wednesday by the acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, said this operation occurred on Tuesday.
“On October 14, 2025, troops deployed at Tapga Ngasawa village under Dampar District of Ibi Local Government Area received credible intelligence on the hideouts of suspected terrorists operating around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages in Ibi LGA.
“Acting swiftly on the information, the troops conducted a series of clearance operations in the identified areas,” a part of the statement said.
He also disclosed that earlier on Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary on October 1, 2025, the troops, acting on credible intelligence, “Advanced to Tor-Ikyeghgba village, where bandits were reported to be converging.
“On arrival at the general area, the troops made contact with the terrorists along the powerline axis and immediately engaged them with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of two.”
The Army’s spokesperson also said in the latest attack on the terrorists, “One AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and one Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack at Tapga village,” were recovered.
He assured members of the public of the commitment of the Nigerian Army to ensure the safety and security of all law-abiding citizens, promising to “continue to work with other security agencies and local communities to achieve lasting peace in the state.”
