Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 49 travellers from Kano State after suspected kidnappers attacked their vehicle in Zamfara State.

The travellers were returning from Senegal, where they had attended a Maulud programme, when they ran into the attackers.

The incident occurred after the vehicle conveying the group reportedly developed a mechanical fault while passing through the area.

The breakdown left the travellers vulnerable, allowing the suspected kidnappers to launch an attack on the group.

However, troops responded swiftly after receiving information about the incident. Their intervention prevented the travellers from being taken away.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the development in a post on X on Tuesday.

He said the troops moved in and successfully rescued all 49 travellers from the suspected kidnappers.

Following the operation, the rescued group was taken to the custody of the Chairman of Tsafe Local Government Area, Malam Garba Shehu Fanchers.

The travellers were handed over to the local government chairman during the night for immediate welfare support and medical assessment.

Authorities are expected to make arrangements for their safe return to Kano after the necessary checks are completed.

The rescue comes amid continued security operations by troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA across parts of the North-West.
