Ron DeSantis Rules Out Being Trump’s Running Mate: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has no interest in being Donald Trump’s running mate.
“I think I’m probably more of an executive guy,” DeSantis told “Eric Bolling The Balance” on Newsmax TV. “I think that you want to be able to do things. That’s part of the reason I got into this job is because we have action.
“We’re able to make things happen, and I think that’s probably what I am best suited for.”
Why Ron DeSantis and Trump Won’t Join Forces
He and Trump have been locked in a brutal war of words as of late. He wants to be at the top, not Trump’s also ran. Mike Pence fit Trump better because the then Indiana governor was soft spoken and a party man.
By contrast, Ron DeSantis is almost as loud as Trump. He has shown as governor of Florida that he is not shy about taking on his Left-wing opponents, from wokeness in public schools to making an example out of the Walt Disney Company.
DeSantis has taken aim at what he sees as Trump’s uneven leadership style, which he branded as “chaotic,” and ridiculed the former president’s attempt to land a trademarked insult on him. This time it’s “Ron DeSanctimonius.”
“I don’t know how to spell the sanctimonious one. I don’t really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels. We’ll go with that, that’s fine,” DeSantis said in an interview with Piers Morgan. “To me, it’s just background noise.
DeSantis continued: “It’s not important for me to be fighting with people on social media. It’s not accomplishing anything for the people I represent.”
DeSantis Has a Strong Record in Florida
The Florida governor likes pointing out his record as a successful governor who succeeded at expanding his margin of victory last November, carrying every county in the state except three. He has traveled around the country.
The governor has taken aim at the fact Trump let Anthony Fauci more or less run the country’s affairs – at least according to many conservatives – during his last year in office and that he didn’t fire him.
“The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage,” DeSantis said.
Ron DeSantis told Bolling he worries about the state of the country in the event Democrats win in 2024.
“The whole party, regardless of any personalities or individuals, you have got to be looking at 2024 and saying, if the Biden regime continues, and they’re able to pick up 10-15 seats in the House and a Senate seat or two, this country is going to be in really, really bad shape,” DeSantis said.
He has yet to announce his candidacy for president, but he told Pierce Morgan in a recent interview that if he were to run, he would make Biden his target, not Trump. DeSantis is confident he can win against Biden.
“You can’t win with just Republicans,” DeSantis said. “You’ve gotta win with independents, and you need to convince some of these Democrats, which I was able to do in Florida, because they’re not woke, they don’t like some of the nonsense going on. They want their streets safe, and they want quality education. So I think you could appeal to people across the canvas.”
