The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government believes that any form of criticism constitutes an attack on them and has demonstrated a history of incompetence.
Naijaonpoint reports that the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, while reacting to United States President, Donald Trump‘s declaration of Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ (CPC) over allegations of Christian genocide.
Recall that Trump also said he had asked the Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians.
However, Abdullahi said no one is accusing the Federal Government of Nigeria of persecuting Christians in the country, stressing the ADC does not view the CPC declaration as opportunism.
He said, “Nobody is accusing this government of persecuting Christians or religious bigotry. They are missing the point.
“They (APC) think any form of criticism is an attack on them, and they have demonstrated historical incompetence. The type of government we have is like someone making people embarrass him.
“Unlike the APC, we are not seeing what’s going on especially the declaration as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ as opportunism.
“We feel embarrassed as Nigerians that outsiders are framing our security challenge along these lines that can further divide us.”
